Labour councillors exposed in photograph deceit - 16/2/10

Labour's council candidates have been exposed for tricking local residents in one of their election leaflets.

The Labour candidates for White Hart Lane, who include Councillors Gideon Bull and Charles Adje, are pictured in front of a sign at White Hart Lane station. However the clear white line around their figures shows that they were never there in White Hart Lane and instead have imposed their image upon a photo of the local area.

The Labour Party have got themselves in similar trouble when cabinet minister James Purnell doctored a picture to add himself to a NHS meeting that he never attended.

Sean Sullivan, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Tottenham, commented "local residents in White Hart Lane keep telling me that their Labour councillors and MP are never seen in White Hart Lane. It's no surprise then that they are doctoring pictures rather than turning up here in person. I imagine they are hiding in the Civic Centre rather than coming up and explaining to us why they have made such a mess of running the council."

The Conservatives have selected Janet Harris, Dan Isebor and Diren Yilmaz as their local candidates.
