Cllr. Adje "De-selected" - calls for him to 'Quit Now' made 06/07/09

Commenting on the unconfirmed news that Cllr. Adje, the controversial Member for White Hart Lane Ward and former Council Leader, has been de-selected by Labour, Sean Sullivan, the Conservative candidate for Tottenham, comments:

"Cllr. Adje was rightly taken to task over the TechFresh IT overspend, the lost £millions in Icelandic banks and the ongoing fiasco concerning Ally Pally. He should do the decent thing and resign his seat. Councillors in Haringey continue to be sacked from key roles and even be deselected but they continue to pocket the £10,000 salary that goes with being a local councillor. If Labour have lost trust in Cllr. Adje, how on earth can his constituents have faith in him as a local representative and community champion?"

Richard Merrin, the Conservative challenger for Hornsey and Wood Green, added: "I get the impression Labour is failing to pieces in Haringey through a mixture of incompetence, arrogance, complacency and in-fighting. We need total change in Haringey. Changing the faces of councillors isn't enough; we need to completely do-away with Labour's old bad ways of ruling and ruining us from the Civic Centre. We need change we can believe in"

ENDs.
