David Cameron in town to endorse Cllr. Matthew Laban and campaign against Labour's NHS cuts 12/10/07

Conservative Leader David Cameron was in town this week to campaign against the closure of Chase Farm Hospital in neighbouring Enfield. Local Conservatives believe that the closure will not only be bad for Enfield residents but Haringey residents, too, as it will mean a massive increase in the number of patients attending the North Middlesex Hospital, which is already struggling to meet the needs of existing patients and is cutting back on beds, operating theatres and staff to meet government targets. St. Ann's, also, is cutting back on services that it offer its patients.

David Cameron met with the Conservatives' Enfield-Haringey Greater London Assembly (GLA) candidate, councillor Matthew Laban. The Enfield-Haringey GLA seat is the most marginal seat anywhere in London and only requires a 1% swing from Labour for the Conservatives to win.

David Cameron said: 'I am delighted that Matthew is standing for the GLA. He will be a strong voice for Enfield and Haringey residents and I'm confident that he will be a outstanding champion for these two boroughs'.

Cllr. Matthew Laban added: 'I was delighted to meet David Cameron. On Day One of Conservatives taking Office we will halt and reverse all Labour cuts in the NHS. Haringey needs a strong voice to stand up to Labour's NHS cuts and their tax hikes and I intend to do just that'

Ends.
