Conservatives urge Tottenham & Wood Green residents to "be on their guard" as Council tries to expand CPZs 08/06/07

Tottenham Conservatives have this week warned residents to be on their guard after the Labour-run Council announced plans to increase the number of Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) in Bruce Grove, Green Lanes and Seven Sisters.  In Bruce Grove, residents living in Belton, Greyhound, Loxwood, Mount Pleasant, Napier, Ranelagh and Winchelsea roads plus Morrison Avenue will be covered by a CPZ if Haringey gets its own way.

The Green Lanes CPZ will swallow up Abbotsford and Conway avenues and Cranleigh, Etherley and Terront roads.

And the Seven Sisters will expand to take in Lawrence and Clyde roads. 'Pay & Display' bays will be introduced to neighbouring Janson's Road.

The Council also plans to tinker with the existing draconian CPZs in Wood Green and introduce new ones.

Commenting, Justin Hinchcliffe, Chairman of Tottenham Conservatives, said:

"Tottenham and Wood Green residents should be on their guard against CPZs which are being used as 'cash cows' by the Labour Council. The consultations will be nothing more than sham exercises. Having faced huge opposition in the West of the borough, the Council's CPZ steamroller is now heading for the East as Labour seeks to inconvenience and tax local residents and businesses, many of whom can no longer afford Labour's stealth taxes."

ENDs.
