Tottenham Conservatives renew calls for investigation into Seven Sister's NDC budget 22/05/07

Conservatives are today renewing calls for the Bridge New Deal For Communities (NDC) to be fully investigated by an independent body to establish if the £50m budget is being spent well and to investigate fears that mismanagement or worse have swallowed up a large part of the budget.

Speaking from the Tiverton Estate, Seven Sisters, Justin Hinchcliffe, of Tottenham Conservatives, said: "This estate continues to be in a very poor state. Rotten windows and damp walls blight the lives of local residents. The area is awash with rubbish, every other pavement is broken and the general environment is bleak. Residents are rightly asking, 'where has all the money gone?' All that is visible are expensive NDC banners and a few hanging-baskets containing dead plants. We want an independent investigation to establish how the money has been spent and to establish if there have been financial irregularities".

Conservatives were the first political party in Tottenham to raise concerns about the NDC, to support calls for a forensic investigation and raise questions in Parliament.
