Haringey Conservatives welcome use of new technology, but tell Council to first get its own house in order! 26/04/07

Commenting on the news that Haringey Council has used an aircraft fitted with military technology to publish a detailed web study of energy loss from individual homes and businesses, Justin Hinchcliffe, of Haringey Conservatives, commented:

“Given that the Council cannot keep the streets clean, we’re amazed that they’ve launched this project.  Haringey should get it’s own house in order before it attacks residents and business. The Council’s record on, for example, recycling is poor and patchy and lights burn throughout the night in their Wood Green offices. That said, we welcome the new technology and hope it will help tackle climate change and cut energy bills.”

Local Conservatives have previously called for more trees to be planted throughout the welcome the use of this new technology and hope some tangible results will emerge to borough to help improve air quality, for more and better cycling lanes to provide an alternative to the car, an end to free parking for council employees and for recycling to be extended to all households throughout the borough, including plastics.

Ends.
