Haringey Conservatives joined a crowd estimated by police to number over 10,000 people on Saturday, protesting against cuts at Chase Farm Hospital. Conservatives claim these cuts will affect not only Enfield, but have dire consequences for healthcare in Haringey too.

The march, organised by Unison, attracted strong cross-party support and included Conservative shadow cabinet member, Theresa Villiers MP and Nick de Bois, the prospective Conservative MP for Enfield North.

Commenting after the rally, Justin Hinchcliffe said:  "Accident & Emergency, Children's and Maternity services at Chase Farm Hospital are in danger of being closed. Where will those patients go? Many of them will have to rely on the North Middlesex hospital instead. But the North Middlesex is itself facing cuts: 34 beds have already been axed this week. Gordon Brown boasts of extra 'investment on health -  but the money hasn't been invested, it's been wasted. The people of Haringey will suffer because Gordon and Tony have engineered the shambolic decline of our NHS."
