
After Labour Cllr Brian Haley lashed out at residents who criticised Haringey Council's handling of the CPZ consultation, Lydia Rivlin, Deputy Chairman of Tottenham Conservatives advised him to study Camden, where in response to a petition from residents of Swains Lane, they are considering removing speed humps.
"Sometimes humps are necessary," says Lydia, "but frequently they are simply arbitrary and downright dangerous. Only the people who actually live with the humps know whether they are effective, so a reasonable Council should be asking for their opinion on such matters all the time. I am glad that Conservative Councillors in Camden have that attitude. I just wish that the Labour Councillors of Haringey would take a leaf out of their book."
