Late on Wednesday night, a group of three teenagers took an axe to a newly-planted tree on Tottenham's Smithson Road, N17. Upset residents who witnessed the incident reported it to Justin Hinchcliffe who leads the White Hart Lane Conservative Action Team (WHLCAT). Justin Hinchcliffe commented:
"Trees do so much to enhance the local environment and this particular newly-planted tree was doing so well. We're very saddened that it's been hacked down. I have already made contact with the Council and will be pressing for a replacement."
