Senior MP visits Tottenham as candidates for key ward announced 29/01/06

Conservatives are the mainstream liberal opposition to New Labour in May's local elections – that was the message from Jacqui Lait, MP and Shadow Minister for London, who last week paid a visit to Haringey’s Conservative members.

Speaking from Bruce Grove in Tottenham, once considered a Labour ‘heartland’, Ms Lait said that David Cameron’s Conservative are a voice for change, optimism and hope.

Said Jacqui: “For too long the Labour Party has been running and ruining Haringey. Everyone knows  that the LibDems are a spent force and cannot challenge Labour here in Haringey. Only the Conservative can be trusted to take on Labour and deliver for the people of Haringey.

We are the mainstream liberal opposition to the increasingly authoritarian Labour government and the useless local Labour council.”

Stop Press: Tottenham Conservatives have chosen Justin Hinchcliffe, Tom Mason and Eric Lattimore to stand for White Hart Lane in May’s elections. White Hart Lane is a key battleground and the Conservatives need a swing of just 7.6% to oust the Ward’s three Labour councillors, including Council Leader Charles Adje.
