London Mayor Ken Livingstone has been asked to confirm that the new escalators at Seven Sisters Station will be up and running in early December - almost eighteen months after they were closed.
Justin Hinchcliffe, Chairman of Tottenham Conservatives and a daily commuter, asked Mayor Livingstone to confirm the escalators will be open according to schedule and not subject to further delays. In his letter, Justin asked:
"I would be extremely grateful if you could confirm that the escalators at Seven Sisters Station (Victoria Line) will be working by early December 2005 in time for Christmas. We were told that the installation of the new escalators would be completed in early December 2005 and we have waited patiently for 18 months for this to happen. As you will be aware, Seven Sisters in a major tube/train interchange for commuters in Enfield as well as Tottenham."
