What's cooking in Seven Sisters? 14/11/05

Although there are many people distributing leaflets in Haringey, Lydia Rivlin, Deputy Chairman of Tottenham Conservatives, has developed a technical innovation which is making her a local legend."I got fed up of catching my fingers in snappy letterplates," explains Lydia,"and after a few uncomfortable experiences, I realised I had to find something to make posting the leaflets a bit easier. Since I do a lot of cooking, an old wooden spoon was the handiest tool to hand and although its cooking time is long past, it certainly has been of tremedous use to me with deliveries."

"It is also quite a talking point." Lydia continues."People stop me and ask why I'm walking around with a wooden spoon.Once I was just about to post a leaflet when the owner of the house flung his door open to go out. He almost ran into me, spoon poised, on his doorstep. It must have been quite a surprise but he collected himself with astonishing speed. Quick as a flash he asked me "are you going to cook me some soup?"I said that the spoon was being used to feed his mind, instead and I handed him the leaflet." Lydia remarked that one of the local postmen saw her and said he would try something similar as he thought it was an excellent idea.
