£200,000 - the rising cost of Lammy 30/10/05

Newly released figures reveal that David Lammy, MP for Tottenham,, now costs the tax-payer almost £200,000.   Justin Hinchcliffe, Chairman of Tottenham Conservatives, asked, "Can anyone really believe the under-performing MP is worth the price?"

In addition to his basic salary of Salary of £57,485, Lammy receives a Ministerial Entitlement of £28,688, and claims Members' Allowances of £107,826 a total of £193,999, before adding in the cost of his generous pension entitlement.

Hinchcliffe added,

"Of course the real cost of our Labour MP is much higher.  Labour has put up taxes 66 times - breaking Tony Blair's promises.  People have seen their pensions destroyed.  Gun crime has doubled under Labour.  Haringey is one of the highest spending education authorities in the country, with amongst the worst results.  Immigration has doubled."

David Lammy, unlike most MPs, does not have a constituency office - 6 years after he was first elected.
