Local Conservatives can reveal that Haringey's Deputy Labour Mayor, Cllr Gideon Bull, has been suspended from mayoral office [and from the Chair of Scrutiny] for 1 month following allegations that he allowed the Council to carry out repairs on his home which in fact he owned under "Right to Buy".
Peter Forrest of the local Conservatives, himself a former Haringey Councillor, has called on Cllr Bull to 'do the decent thing' and to resign from both offices. He has also called on Cllr Bull to renounce any ambitions to become Mayor [in ordinary event, he would become Mayor for 2005-06 under 'buggins turn'].
Said Peter Forrest:
"Cllr Bull is utterly compromised in his 2 official roles. He should do the decent thing and resign the 2 offices. He should also renounce any ambition to become Mayor for 2005-06".
Cllr Bull has 21 days to appeal.
The disciplinary enquiries into foul-mouthed Mayor, Cllr Peacock, are now underway.
