MacDougall condemns Lammy's "Extravagant" ways - part two 03/03/05

In the Commons on 7 February, the Tottenham MP revealed that expenditure on consultants by his department had exploded, and was now 9 times the level under the last Conservative government.

Lammy's Conservative challenger William MacDougall explained:

"While some use of consultants is occasionally necessary, how can David Lammy justify such a massive increase - to over nine million pounds - especially when his department is so short of funds that it has ended legal aid for medical law suits.  Lammy should remember that his constituents already suffer from high taxes and years of neglect from the twin evils of a Labour Council and
Labour Government."

In December, Lammy was slated for increasing expenditure on office decoration by over a million pounds - tripling expenditure - since his appointment as Minister for Constitutional Affairs last year.
