Labour\'s Lammy now costing us over £200,000 a year - is he really worth it? 25/10/04

Newly released figures reveal that David Lammy MP now costs the tax-payer over £200,000.  His Conservative challenger William MacDougall asked, "Can anyone really believe the under-performing MP is worth the price?"

In addition to his basic salary of Salary of £57,485, Lammy receives a Ministerial Entitlement of £28,688, and claims Members' Allowances of £114,390, a total of £200,563, before adding in the cost of his generous pension entitlement.

MacDougall added,

"Of course the real cost of our Labour MP is much higher.  Labour has put up taxes 66 times - breaking Tony Blair's promises.  People have seen their pensions destroyed.  Gun crime has doubled under Labour.  Haringey is one of the highest spending education authorities in the country, with amongst the worst results.  Immigration has doubled."
