Tottenham High Road - from the High Cross to Lordship Lane - is tree-free and Haringey Council should plant some trees in a bid to improve the local air quality and scenery, according to William MacDougall, Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Tottenham.
MacDougall, who is also a long-standing member of the Tree Trust for Haringey and a former local councillor, explained:
"Trees are both very attractive and important for improving the air quality, so there's a strong case for Haringey to line the High Road with trees. Astonishingly, there isn't a single tree from High Cross to Lordship Lane. The council should work in partnership with local businesses by asking each local business to sponsor a tree and 'matching' each sponsorship. I'm more than happy to sponsor one myself."
