Turnpike Lane isn't moving, says William MacDougall 22/07/04

Action is required to stop traffic grinding to a halt during 'rush hour time' in Turnpike Lane as lorries block the road to deliver to local businesses.

William MacDougall, the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Tottenham, says the Council should consult with local residents, businesses and Transport for London (TfL) over a number of options to increase the traffic flow, including the cancellation of the bus lane and introducing new loading times for business deliveries.

Said Mr MacDougall:

"Travelling through Turnpike Lane either in a car or on a bus usually is a nightmare experience between the hours of 15:30 and 1830. The cars and buses just sit there chugging out pollution and that's not nice, especially when it's hot and sticky. Haringey Council, through meaningful consultation, needs to consider a number of options to increase the traffic flow".
