Is Labour's GLA candidate more interested in Bournemouth than Bruce Grove? 30/05/04

Labour's GLA candidate for Enfield-Haringey (Cllr Joanne McCartney) is
pictured in London Labour's latest election newspaper "enjoying a local park
with her family" under the article by-line of "Family friendly London".

So it is perplexing that a family photo of London Labour's candidate for
Enfield-Haringey, apparently taken in the same 'local' park, should adorn
the front page of Labour's election leaflet for the European Elections in
Dorset!

Conservative GLA candidate for Enfield-Haringey said:

"This is a riddle.

If Labour's GLA candidate can afford a second home [in Dorset] then that is
a matter for her. After all, Labour's Michael Meacher has six!

But why would she want to figure so prominently in Dorset Labour election
material unless she is attempting to put down political roots there?

People in Enfield-Haringey have a right to know whether Labour's candidate's
commitment to our area is transient or permanent and I am calling on her to
make a personal statement to clarify her position".
