William MacDougall backs Graham Rd residents over uncut grass 22/05/04

Residents of Graham Road, Turnpike Lane, are angry at the Council's failure to cut the grass.  Triangular-shaped Graham Road surrounds a grassy area and the obvious intention of the architect who designed the layout was that the neighbourhood should look like a village around a green.  But since the grass has not been cut and is now towering over 4ft high residents are complaining that they are looking out on to more of a jungle than a park.

William MacDougall, Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Tottenham, said:

Graham Road residents are paying £1,200+ a year in Council Tax and they are very angry that Labour-run Haringey won't send a man with a lawnmower to keep the grass short. This is not a nature reserve, it's a residential green.  I have asked the Council to investigate this problem but frankly I expect a lot of flannel from them and very little action.”
