Conservative campaigners in Tottenham are considering 20 applications - to be the next Conservative candidate to challenge David Lammy in the 2005 general election. The 20 will be whittled down to a shortlist of 3 for consideration by their 100-strong membership.
Justin Hinchcliffe, Deputy Chairman of Tottenham Conservatives, said:
On paper Tottenham looks like a safe Labour seat, so we were extremely pleased with the high number of applicants we received. However, more and more local residents are saying, Were fed up with Labour taking us for granted. Lets see what the Conservatives have to offer us.
Now we are giving local people the opportunity to tell us what sort of candidate theyd like us to put up against our 'Fatcat' MP. You can email us at tottenhamconservatives@hotmail.com or write to us at 5, Bruce Grove, London, N17 6RA. Finding the right candidate is vital if we are to unseat Labour next time round.
