Haringey residents can now get information on environmental awareness, with the help of Tottenham Conservatives.
The local Party have added a new page -- Greening Haringey -- to their website and hope this will help local residents to become more environmentally friendly. The page contains tips on buying refills, composting, reducing junk mail, recycling, using the internet for bills and statements, and switching to reusable nappies. Thereare also several links to environmental organisations promoting sustainable resource management in the UK and to two Conservative-run councils that have state-of-the-art environmental policies far in advance of Haringey's.
Matt Clare, 30, Membership Deputy Chairman of Tottenham Conservatives, said:

"If Haringey Council could get their act together, they could learn quite a lot from these councils. Each year the average household produces enough waste to fill a standard bedroom. Multiply that by the amount of households in Britain and you can see the scale of the problem. This waste all has to go somewhere and most of it is buried in landfill sites. |
