Livingstone "couldn't give a toss" about Haringey as Mayor snubs borough to hob-nob with Trade Unions 18/01/04

Peter Forrest

Peter Forrest, Conservative GLA Candidate for Enfield-Haringey, has issued a strongly-worded statement rebuking Mayor Livingstone for snubbing Enfield & Haringey during his first 3 years of office. Analysis of the Mayor's official diary shows that Livingstone made only 41 visits outside the Circle Line in those 3 years: making no visit at all to Enfield and only 2 to Haringey.

Conversely, the Mayor had 41 meetings with trade union officials: the same number as the visits he made to outer London boroughs.

Commenting, Peter Forrest said:

"Ken Livingstone is a Zone 1 Mayor, fixated by inner London issues. He couldn't give a toss about outer London providing its voters cough up the funds for his pet schemes in the centre of the capital.

It beggars belief that he did not make a single visit to Enfield, and only 2 to troubled Haringey, in his first 3 years in office, preferring instead to hob-nob with trade union officials."
