Peter Forrest, Conservative GLA Candidate for Enfield-Haringey, today demanded Ken Livingstone take urgent and exceptional action to cope with the after-effects of the suspension of the Northern Line following yesterdays derailment at Camden Town. Echoing calls from GLA Member Brian Coleman from Barnet-Camden on Ken Livingstone to suspend Congestion Charging with immediate effect until the Northern Line is operational again, Peter Forrest said: "Tens of thousands of my constituents rely on the Northern Line to get into work in Central London. If it is going to be suspended, the Mayor has to act to make the best of a bad situation. He should suspend the Congestion Charge to assist those people who now have no option but to use their cars. We all want to ensure yesterdays accident is properly investigated, and that all necessary checks are made, but in the meantime Londoners expect the Mayor to do everything in his power to help their journeys to and from work."
