RMT will be pleased as Livingstone gets tube - Norris

The famous Underground sign

Steve Norris, Candidate for London Mayor, believes that the handover of the London Underground to Mayor Livingstone, due to happen at midnight tonight, will not lead to any improvement in the service for passengers:

Steve said, Handing over responsibility for the Underground to Mayor Livingstone is not good news for London. He has spent the last three years resisting new investment and cosying up to his friends in the unions."

"There is no evidence whatsoever that Livingstone is interested in passengers. If he was, he would never have pursued his pointless legal battles with the Government that have simply delayed over 1billion worth of investment into the tube over the past two years."

The one person who will be delighted by this handover is Bob Crow, the militant leader of the RMT union. He must think its his birthday. Livingstone is already in his pocket. Things can only get worse for the travelling public.

ENDS.

Notes to Editors:

Haringey is served by three underground lines: Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines. There are seven tubes stations in the borough: Bounds Green, Highgate, Seven Sisters, Tottenham Hale, Turnpike Lane, and Wood Green.
