A 'Community Clear-Up' on the Tower Gardens Estate has left the area looking even worse than before - at least for the time being!
Local Conservatives had been calling for a major clear-up for some time and were pleased to hear that Haringey Council had finally relented. The Council sent a note to every home on the Tower Gardens Estate asking residents to leave unwanted items out -- on the pavements-- for collection.
Up to 100 + residents responded to the Council's request and left unwanted cookers, fridges, settees and washing machines out on Saturday night for Sunday's collection. But many householders found the collectors never came and many of the items were still there the following Monday.
Commenting on the 'botched' 'Community Clear Up', White Hart Lane Conservative Action Team Leader Justin Hinchcliffe said:
"We're not sure if Haringey just didn't bother collecting from all the streets it had promised - or whether they were just overwhelmed by the size of the job. But I have been in touch with Haringey Accord and they have assured me that they will remove all remaining items "within 24 hours".
ENDS.
