Sir Denis Thatcher
1915 - 2003
Lydia Rivlin, Chairman of Tottenham Conservative Association, has written to Baroness Thatcher to express the Association's condolences on the passing of Sir Denis.
Lydia wrote:
Dear Baroness Thatcher,
I am so sorry to hear of the death of your wonderful husband. I met him when you gave a speech at the Carlton Club a few months ago and found him charming and kind. He was a wonderful man and I am grateful that I had the chance to tell him so at that meeting.
His self-effacing encouragement of your political life has been the salvation of the whole country. Although silly people made fun of him, history will acknowledge the debt we owe to Denis Thatcher.
On behalf of Tottenham Conservatives as well as myself, I can offer you only our deepest condolences.
Lydia Rivlin
