ASLEF, the train drivers' trade union, has announced that it will be financially backing Ken Livingstones re-election campaign. Conservatives say that Londoners are now seeing the reason for Livingstone being conspicuous by his silence when asked to condemn striking train drivers.
Peter Forrest, Conservative London Assembly Candidate for Enfield-Haringey,
said:
This has come as no surprise whatsoever. Livingstone is shamefully silent
when there is a strike on the railways and his union paymasters have clearly
decided to reward him."
