TfL: acting on dangerous crossing after Forrest intervention

Local Conservatives have been campaigning since 2001 to have a pelican
crossing installed at the dangerous junction of the Roundway and Great
Cambridge Road. The campaign received a huge boost when leading Conservative
activist and now Enfield-Haringey GLA Candidate, Peter Forrest, saw at first
hand just how dangerous the junction was and he has been persistently
pressing TfL (Transport for London) to take action ever since.

Now, Peter Munday, TfL's Route Manager for Haringey and Enfield, has
confirmed that TfL have commissioned a full study of the Great Cambridge
Road/Roundway junction and are even now studying its recommendations.

Commenting on the news, Peter Forrest said:

"It is good news that TfL have taken local residents' concerns seriously and
have commissioned a full report into the junction, including safety issues
raised by local Conservatives.

I am optimistic that TfL's report will accept the need to improve safety for
pedestrians. I shall continue to press TfL on the issue and, assuming the
report does indeed conclude there is a need for a crossing, to urge its
introduction at the earliest possible opportunity."
