Tottenham Conservatives congratulate Queen's coronation

This week, the Nation will celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.  There are some who believe that the Monarchy is anomalous but as a concept it has been the one steady unifying focus of the United Kingdom during the turbulent years which characterised all of the last century and the beginning of this one.  The only anomaly in this equation is that some do not appreciate just how important the Monarchy is for this country.

We at Tottenham Conservatives believe that the Queen is as important an asset for our nation as the entire British population of independent, imaginative and inventive people, who--even in this century--have an economic and commercial reach throughout the world far out of proportion to the size of our population, or even the geographical dimensions of the United Kingdom.

The Monarchy, ever since the beginning of the 19th century, has symbolised the diversity of British culture and the diversity of the cultures which have contributed to, invigorated and changed British life.  At the same time the vision of continuity embodied by the Queen has yielded psychological stability during times of great change.

The Monarchy is in place by the grace of the people of this country and in giving that grace we receive many unquantifiable benefits.

Tottenham Conservatives congratulates Queen Elizabeth II on her 50th anniversary as Queen of this country and head of the Commonwealth.  We wish her, and ourselves, many more years of this fortunate relationship.
