LibDem admission: 'We have no branch in Tottenham'

'HARINGEY'S' Liberal Democrats have been forced into admitting that they have no branch in Tottenham - unlike the Conservative and Labour parties.

In a frank admission to the independent Electoral Commission, the Liberal
Democrats, who claim to be the 'effective opposition' in Haringey, admits
that the party in not represented in Tottenham, despite Tottenham counting
for almost 50% of the Borough.

Justin Hinchcliffe, Chairman of Tottenham Conservatives, said: "We have long
said that they have no interest in running Haringey Council. If they were
serious about Haringey's future, they would be represented in Tottenham and
campaign here. The fact is that they are only interested in unseating
hard-working local MP Barbra Roche, not running Haringey Council. The
LibDems are using Haringey Council as a 'steppingstone' to take Hornsey and
Wood Green at the next General Election."

"This proves that the Conservatives are a pan-Haringey party and are the
real opposition in the Borough. No-wonder the LibDemsare often a poor fourth in
Tottenham - usually polling fewer votes than the Greens" added Tony Cox, a
Tottenham resident and Conservative candidate in next year's GLA elections.
