Another bumper pay year for 'fat cat' LibDem

Hard on the heels of the latest Ryness Electrical Supplies Ltd. accounts (y/e 30 June 2002), Haringey Conservatives revealed today another bumper pay year for 'fat cat' Ryness millionairess Lib-Dem Councillor Lynne Featherstone.

The latest Ryness accounts show that Ms Featherstone was one of 4 directors who shared emoluments of £1.1m in 2001-02. The accounts also showed that the company paid a dividend of £0.67m in the year...Ms Featherstone, together with her sister, has a controlling interest in the company and, pro rata to her shareholding, will have received approaching £200,000 in dividends alone.

To date, Ms Featherstone has donated more than £25,000 to her own local branch of the Liberal Democrats in support of her campaign to unseat hard-working sitting Labour MP Barbara Roche. If PM Mr Blair were to run until June 2006, then local Conservatives point out that Ms Featherstone's local funding of her Party would total some £70,000 since Jan 2001. Conservatives contrast this largesse with the Lib-Dems' oft-repeated claim not to be in the 'pocket of big business'.
